‘Cash is not king’
How can fundraisers use complex non-cash charitable giving strategies to grow donations? This includes a summary and market overview of non-cash giving in America as well as a 15 minute non-cash fundraising seminar. The presentation will cover the basics of non-cash giving as well as more complex strategies using assets like Real Estate and Private Stock. Lastly, we will cover softer ways to include non-cash giving in your fundraising plan as well as some of the recent trends and growing number of vendors supporting the non-cash giving market place.
Dan Greenspon is the CEO and Founder of DG Capital Insights (DGCI). He is a senior-level philanthropic planning specialist with more than fifteen years of experience in advanced charitable gift planning, business and product development, marketing, and relationship management. Dan enjoys working in the philanthropic sector to unlock more capital for philanthropy by lowering costs of administration and helping to make gifts happen that otherwise wouldn’t. He is frequent speaker at regional and national conferences in the charitable giving and philanthropic space.
DGCI currently provides consulting to financial services firms, corporations, non-profits, and other professional advisors and donors exploring charitable vehicles and planning strategies like donor-advised funds, private foundations and charitable trusts. Dan has worked closely with institutions (including non-profits) and professional advisors to design and build new philanthropic gift platforms in order to bring more capital to the social sector and help non-profits raise more dollars for their causes. Dan also advises financial institutions, non-profits, foundations, and professional advisors in donor-advised fund product strategy, complex assets, impact investing, specialized grantmaking services and legacy planning. Currently, Dan also serves as Vice President of Business Development for Charitable Solutions LLC and supports Dechomai.org non-cash giving platform which raised more than $1 billion dollars in non-cash gifts in 2021.
Before starting his consulting practice, Dan was employed with RenPSG as Vice President of Business Development in 2019. Earlier in his career, Dan served as Regional Director of Development at National Philanthropic Trust the largest independent provider of donor-advised fund services. Prior to that, Dan served as a Philanthropic Consultant at Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program a leading national donor-advised fund platform founded by the Vanguard Group.
Dan earned his bachelor’s degrees in both Economics and Urban Planning at the University of Pittsburgh. He also holds a Non-Profit Management certificate from the University of Pittsburgh and obtained the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) designation at The American College in 2011. He volunteers at local Philadelphia non-profits and is part of the executive committee of the Board of Directors at the Greater Philadelphia Planned Giving Council. Dan resides in Lafayette Hill, PA with his wife and two children.

Bringing Cryptocurrency into the Donor Conversation
Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin, are becoming increasingly popular as charitable gift options. Many nonprofit organizations have begun to recognize crypto as an exciting new revenue stream.
Cryptocurrency ushers in a new era for fundraising, and all nonprofit organizations—big or small, established or start-up—and offers tax advantages for donors. Accepting cryptocurrency isn’t as difficult as you may think – and it can open up opportunities to engage new donors for your nonprofit.
In this Seminar, you’ll learn to identify the demographics of cryptocurrency donors and understand what motivates them to give to charities, as well as what your organization will need to do to incorporate crypto into your fundraising strategies. David will cover:

- Who donates cryptocurrency and why?
- Why accepting cryptocurrency can benefit your nonprofit
- How it works (donating crypto, digital wallet)
- How to incorporate the cryptocurrency gift option into your fundraising efforts
David Toll, JD has more than 20 years of professional experience in development and fundraising. He currently serves as Senior Associate Vice President of the Office of Gift Planning at Drexel University, where he is responsible for the development and implementation of University-wide planned giving efforts. In addition, David is a Senior Consultant with Major & Planned Giving Development, LLC, a firm that advises nonprofits and nonprofit leaders on fundraising and planned giving, and is a past President of the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia.
David frequently speaks at professional conferences around the country, and has consulted for numerous organizations in developing gift planning programs and structuring complex planned gifts. Before pursuing a career in higher education advancement, he spent several years practicing law at White and Williams, Patterson, and Weir and Fox Rothschild with an emphasis on real estate, business, tax, and estate planning.
